I remember a quote from Charles Schultz saying that the only thing he regretted was never learning to draw.

I don't know about this one; Charles Schulz had a pet peeve with people who said his loose style was not like real drawing -- you need to know how to draw really well to simplify that much and still have such a range of expression.

For a time, he was working for Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis (the one that advertises on late-night TV)
