The druid was about to cast "Heal", right?
That or Heat Metal.

Why?!
For the love of murphy, he was surrounded -- wouldn't converting it to a summon have made more sense?

Wouldn't V's dropping the readied action V held (ow, avoiding gender hurts my feeble brain) to keep that dispel available have been a better idea, 'cause it doesn't *seem* like Heal was a great spell there...

What was going on?

Haley had a readied action. she shot him when he cast heal disrupting his spellcasting. he obviously didn't cast defensively.

casting a summoning is a full round, certain to be distrupted.
The druid looks pretty banged up Heal seems like a good move. (although word of recall might have been a better choice)

He did cast defensively, cause otherwise roy could have hit him, it doesn't help vs readied actions.

not bad tactics, but meh, not as funny. Back peddling belkars squickyness seems like pandering.

roy moved up to make his attack. and he only made one so it was obvious roy moved.

but it was good in that he didn't have Haley reply. i'm really hating the Haleyspeak.

OH. RIGHT.
I had forgotten the companion had Stoneskin up, and not looked too carefully at the panel -- I had thought the druid was Healing his raven, and V was dispelling it, and that's all they wrote.

He was actually Healing himself when Haley shot him, and V was setting up the great cleavage.

I'm tactically minded, honest!

It looks more like ranks in Intimidate to me than a magical effect - I suspect the druid was standing until the GM checked his remaining hit points and decided it made more sense for him to sit down. :)

Then why bother with Intimidate?

There's a few rules errors, but none are glaring like Control Weather was a few panels back, so it's all right. The druid wasn't near any trees anymore, so he couldn't use them to teleport through. I didn't think druids could cast Word of Recall.

I'm pretty sure that was intentional.

Thor: "Booyaa. Direct hit."
Divine Servant: "Eh, sir, I don't believe control weather works like that"
Thor: "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you just now. What did you say?"
Servant: "Sigh...Nothing sir"
Thor: "That's what I thought."

I'm surprised they let the druid cast for the whole round the spell requires.

How about - Druid cast spell, catching party surprised. In surprise round, druid uses partial action for 'begin casting full-round spell' and then wins initiative and so when round two comes up (first full round) he gets it off. ??

We all knew it was intentional :) However, at the time of the Control Weather spell, it just looked like a "deus ex machina" (complete with "deus" on the next strip, heh).

Do OOTS characters ever make Concentration checks against damage? And does V ever cast defensive spells? (This is twice Belkar was ordered to protect V in combat.)
