Oots #395 is up.

Yeah, I wasn't getting the joke at all until the owls got roasted by the dragons. (Sorry, "dwagons") Their cries of "PWNED!" and "OMGWTFBBQ!" were amusing and clued me in that "Orly" might be from the same vein.

I got the joke.

It still wasn't funny.

Yeah.

You know, if Rich were doing that joke, there would actually be a joke, rather than just a bunch of tired references strung together.

Bah, humbug. :(

Yeah, it isn't Rich, just his proteges:

"Time for a big announcement. We're adding another webcomic to the site! Erfworld: The Battle for Gobwin Knob is a brand-new comedic fantasy (or is that fantastic comedy?) story from the skilled hands of author Rob Balder (PartiallyClips) and illustrator Jamie Noguchi (Angry Zen Master). "

I'm not sure if Gobwin Nob would have been better with Rich. I'm still giving it some time, but I like it much less than Downer right now (and certainly OoTS). The elided "L" thing is getting annoying (not a strong gag in the first place) and the writing is weak so far. I don't care about the characters, the pace is slow and the jokes are more miss than hit. It is too easy to be critical of... sorry.

If you don't enjoy Erfworld, don't read it? No one's forcing you to look at it twice a week. It's pretty easy to ignore.

Yeah yeah I know, but the three times a week that I'm hitting "reload" every ten minutes to get the newest OotS, I get bored, and I look at the convenient Erfworld link ... and it hurts. It hurts deep in my heart. :(

It's my own darn fault.

But I have seen some good (funny) work out of the writer-guy, so hopefully he'll somehow hear our complaints and get funnier.

Sadly, -- N

Yeah, Erfworld only took 10 strips to make my "ignore" list. (But, frankly, I'm probably just not the target of its humor, not being a fan of anime, l33t-speak, or turn-based gaming.)

DM of the Rings is my next favorite after OOTS.

The guy who does PartiallyClips is the same one who does Erfworld? That's really odd. I'm a fan of PartiallyClips, but Erfworld doesn't do anything for me. Probably just because I'm not all that familiar with the PBM thing, which is the primary joke of the comic, but still... huh.
