I too love Belkar and did not like Hinjo's sentence at all.

Yeah, but again, no opportunity was given for Roy to explain the situation to Belkar in private.

Have to admit, I don't get this. Roy could have asked for 30 seconds to confer with Belkar and didn't. Roy not doing this isn't somehow Hinjo's fault. It's Roy's fault.

It seems there is no justice in a paladin-run society.

We seem to have different views of justice. In a really just society Belkar would never get out of jail at all. But he's more fun free and with the group, and it's about time the Mark of Justice subplot was over so I'm fine with how things are going. I have no doubt he'll make an escape when it's time for the group to move on from the city.
