Hmm. I didn't like that joke. Probably because I'm a material scientist.

What you mean there's two of us here now?

Joke didn't bug me. It fits in with the common "knowledge" of titanium. If I got worked up about materials science mistakes (ok, when I get ...) I'd probably enjoy little fiction if any.

That pretty much applies to any profession, I think. I'm an accountant. Whenever accounting is mentioned in any fictional story (which is bloody RARE let me tell you), they invariable get it wrong.

As an example, last summer the NBC website had short "The Office" segments about the accounting department trying to locate a missing amount of money ($2000 I think). In the end they find it's because one of them double-booked an amortization entry. Amortization doesn't affect cash, so that solution makes absolutely no sense (unless, I suppose, they're all incompetent, which is possible). But I still allowed myself to enjoy it.

Oh mang, let me tell you about this absolutely sadistic halfling accountant. Like, epic sadistic she was.

Hmm, Agent Oracle's post with the diagram of the titanium sword is great! Finally I understand those ginormous anime swords! They're just titanium!

For some time now, I've been toying with the idea that "mithral" is actually aluminium. :p

So in D&D nutjobs make mithril-foil hats to protect their brains from alien thought beams! And you can bake your potatoes in mithril foil! :D
