I just caught something from that panel I missed the first time.

Roy's dad is busy beratting him on how ineffective his fighter training is against an undead, but the plan his dad mentions - turn Xykon into a frog - won't work either because Xykon is as a lich immune to polymorph.

Roy's dad is an elitist who's convinced Wizards are better at everything then other classes are.

Never mind that in spite of being a Mighty Wizard, he didn't even come close to killing Xykon as Roy did.

...At least Roy survived his fight with Xykon. :]

And Xykon should be having a hard time casting a spell while his mount moves (Concentration checks and no Con modifier).
Of course, undead use their Charisma modifier for Concentration checks. And we know how loveable Xykon is, so he must have a huge Cha score. ;)

More importantly, he's a Sorcerer, and thus dependent on his CHA score for spellcasting. :)

Unholy crap, what an opening! Can't wait for the next one! :D

Actually, he's riding no-saddle. Bareback. I expect he's got Spider Climb or something active. Now if Durkon were to Dispel it...
I'm pretty sure spider climb doesn't let you cling to moving creatures with your bony ass.

It'd be neat if it did though.

The spell that allows you to cling to moving creatures with your bony ass is called Paris Hilton Climb.

Except, Xykon has DR 15/bludgeoning and magic. So instead of doing about 26 with each blow, Roy only does about 11 to Xykon.
Maybe it's just because I haven't played D&D3.5e in quite some time, but I thought that because Roy is wielding a magic weapon he'd bypass the DR entirely, thus cranking out his usual damage.

Then again, game mechanics are probably a moot point as Rich has shown that he's quite willing to waive such concerns if they get in the way of either a good story or a good joke.

"A lich’s undead body is tough, giving the creature damage reduction 15/bludgeoning and magic." - srd (emphasis mine)

"A few other creatures require combinations of different types of attacks to overcome their damage reduction. A weapon must be both types to overcome this damage reduction. A weapon that is only one type is still subject to damage reduction." - srd

Like any good DM.
