OotS #441

The Zombie Dragon is not destroyed yet, so of course the eyes are still open. :p

They'll magically close if Roy inflicts enough damage to the rest of the body!

I've often thought along similar lines. He has the most brokenly powerful core race / class combo, yet for 98% of the strip, chooses to not be awesome. If he played his character to maximum effectiveness (yes, I know Rich intentionally doesn't have them do so, just saying), the battle with Leaky would be the norm.

Almost as if this was a group of young players just starting to play and Durkon's player is the experienced old Grognard that doesn't want to outshine them. :D

I don't agree... Roy had to help him how to calculate his to hit bonus in one of the first strips.

I guess Durkon is the typical quiet buddy of a player who was dragged along to join the game and who got a standard character combination handed to him without knowing much about the rules nor the game.

It's all these new fangled bonuses. In the old days we had THAC0 and we liked it!!

Of course it's been a couple of years now so the old Grognard has learned the ropes :D

A couple of years? OOTS is that old already?

Sheesh, the years pass by.

Maybe even more. there's been 441 webcomics so far, and if we go with his 3/week (which is quite generous) we'd have 147 weeks. That's closer to 3 years than it is to 2.... wow

Since the first comic was about the characters converting from 3.0 to 3.5, I always figured it came out not too long after 3.5 did, meaning the later half of 2003.

I'm far more irritated at elan. He used to like singing so much, so between feats and spells, I'm sure he could be giving all allies within earshot a +4 to nearly everything. When these guys are so numerous and probably have a meager attack bonus of +4 or so to begin with, that's HUGE! A bard's power is directly proportional to the number of allies around him, yet in the ONE battle that will likely give him more allies than any other to come, he's chosen to utilize his 1 level in Dashing Swordsman and completely neglect his 12 or so in Bard! So very frustrating!

Well, he tried to give a rousing speech at the start of battle. He just rolled poorly on his Perform (oratory) check.

I started with OOTS pretty early. I think the first strip I read was I think I failed a spot check, which checking now means it was the 3rd one. I think 3.5 was already some months into it, but I'm sure someone else will have a btter memory of the exact start of the OoTS webcomic.
