It got me. I also loved the shock of the second-to-last-panel fade-out.

Possibly I had a soft spot for Miko, because I loved the tragedy of it all -- the classic hamartia, the paladin who used Wisdom as a dump stat and forgot why it was she swore all those oaths in the first place.

Ah, well.

...well, crap.

I never expected to feel sorry for Miko.

Brad

I still don't.

Hopefully we have seen the last of Miko. An overplayed, uninteresting character that chewed up waaaaayyyy too much time.

In the end, the big tough paladin turned out to be only a child.

I think this is about the best he can do with Miko. He put her in a position where you didn't really want to see her redeemed, and that trapped him with either dropping the character or going down the all too well-worn path of turning into a blackguard. I'm glad at least we didn't go there. It seems like the only reason writers put paladins in stories is to have them fall.

Anyways, without spoilers: BOO! Bad ending Rich, bad ending. You could have done so much more. But I'll give you this. I didn't see it coming.

I couldn't disagree more if I tried. I think that's a perfect wrap-up to the character's story arc, and beautifully executed at that. It had reached the point where she was too disliked for a more thorough redemption storyline to resonate with the audience, and every option for making her evil was forced and/or cliched.

This? This was perfect.

I can definitely see an afterlife encounter between Roy & Miko. In fact, I can see them both being incredulous that the other ended up in whatever good afterlife they end up in.
