The Hun? The Mongol? The Viking?
Yeah, the Huns and the Mongols seem more appropriate than the Romans. Attila and Gengis Khan left a greater mark of brutality and ruthless conquest than any Roman emperor.

But trotting out 'the Roman empire' as the symbol of brutality, tranny, and evil was the Godwin's Law of its day.
Yeah, they were more tolerant of anti-conformist lifestyle choices than many. :p

Does anyone know what Rich is sick from? I mean is it a question of $ for not getting better or is it some sort of chronic/life long aliment in which more $ would mean fewer bad days?

He's said on his site that it's not a matter of money (he even put up a list of charities he'd rather his fans give money to than give him money for medical care), and that he has excellent insurance and he can afford medical care.

Presumably therefore his problem is some chronic ailment that isn't easily cured or managed, and that he prefers to be private about. While I am curious about it, as doubtless many fans are, I'll respect that he wants his medical issues to be private.

True, but it hasn't done that either.

Yeah, it's quite disappointing - if only because he has weaved an interesting story. (If it sucked, no one would care.)

His hiatus ended on 9/17, so technically, we should have had 8 strips by now, and we've had only 5. It's annoying when people assert something (3/week) and then don't follow through. I much rather it said 1/week and then everything else was a bonus.

Semantics? Yes. For some reason it matters, though.
