WAIT.... Isn't Finger of Death A MAGIC Spell? ??!?!?!?!? Thats not even mentioning Meteor Swarm..

Bad Rich! Screwing Roy with a sudden McGruffen change makes me a sad panda.

Spells only affect carried gear on a natural 1 on the saving throw, and even then, they would be more likly to blow up his sword or armor.

The amulet, on the other hand, is like a necklace of fireballs to electricity effects, and it failed it's save.

The only problem with online comics versus the anthologies that Rich puts out is that the few comics that can illuminate an issue can seem to drag on forever when waiting days between them.

I bet that's why 528 and 529 came out relatively quickly.

My first response to the comic was "Yeah, we get it." and "That was a long way to go for that punchline.", but in the larger context, it was important information.

Sigh. WTB [Timemachine], pst.

1. Finger of Death may be magic, but it doesn't do an energy type of damage. I think that Celia means Fire/Lightning/Acid/Sonic/Ice damage.

2. Since carried items are normally only damaged on a natural 1 on the save, the meteor swarm wouldn't have affected it. Celia noted that the amulet had a specific weakness to electrical attacks that meant it was damaged when she was subjected to the electric orb spell even though she apparently didn't roll a natural 1 for her save. As was noted above, that weakness already exists in the core rules with the Necklace of Fireballs having a weakness to fire attacks.

If Xykon used a lightning bolt on Roy instead, then it might have cracked Celia's amulet and he could have summoned her.

I wonder how long it will be until someone notices Roy as a ghost.

I typically have a bad time predicting OOTS polts, but I'm convinced Roy has failed an INT check. His father always appeared to him in his dreams. So I will say sleep time.

Yeah, sadly, I feel the same here. Without Roy (in real), the story is a bit... lacking now, mainly because it's more about story right now. But I'm used to it, as Girl Genius Online also takes an eternity to read.

But still enjoyable, though I will truly appreciate it in some months, when I go through a bunch of comics at once (i.e. in a book).

Cheers, LT.

For me the problem isn't that the comic is more about story as it is that the strips feel more like the strips are lots of setup followed by more setup, followed by even more setup, and then finally a scene payoff. I'm still reading, but it feels like it's dragging a little.

It's especially glaring since there's a Transformers webcomic I read that really gets it right... each builder strip pays off the previous strip *and* ends on an exciting setup for the next, and the filler strips are really funny (lately the jokes in OotS just sort of make me smile). C'est la vie, I suppose, but I miss the days when I *itched* for a new OotS strip as opposed to simply going, "Oh, hey a new strip! Whee!". :>

Peace & Luv, Liz
