OotS 547!

The Sapphire Guard in OOTS can be treated as practically an instruction manual on how to play Paladins. O'Chul and Hinjo are good solid examples of how to do it right, while Miko is a textbook case of how to do it wrong.

I totally agree. I might just make a paladin someday based on O'chul and Hinjo.

Interesting to see that O'Chul's fortitude acted as an inspiration to the slaves. Might we be seeing the beginnings of a slave uprising?

I hope so, I hope so. I'd be great if Red Cloak's plans are thwarted by a bazillion low level npc classed slaves.

didn't they become slaves b/c they lost the battle to the hobgoblins sheer numbers?

Did O'Chul have enough paladin levels to call a mount? Even if his were killed in the battle for Azure City, it's been 30 days by now...

That's a good paladin. I'm so glad that someone has read the Deed of Paksenarrion. It's how I always hope to see a paladin played.

Yes, but Rich's drawing of the scenes before Xykon cast his closter spell indicate that there weren't many humans left in the city, not enough to constitute a serious slave population/several rebellion groups. Most of the slaves are probably from the surrounding area that didn't get a chance to flee in the boats.

He's completely growing on me.

A multiclassed paladin with charisma for a dump stat, who has to serve his faux insane lord's demands to clean up after a cat, and then captured by Xykon and co. but who stands firm with dignity through it all.

Go O'Chul!

I wouldn't say 'Miko's player' did it wrong. It's a convincing and plausible portrayal, played at times with surprising sympathy and pathos.

The problem with it primarily is that it is an anti-social character and hense ill-suited for a player role in a multiplayer game.

And, only slightly less problimatic is that 'lawful stupid' has become a tired cliche.

That, and pretty much as soon as your average Paladin is introduced, you just know that they are going to fall and turn into one of the bad guys at some point.

What Miko demonstrates is that even someone with as brilliant of characterization and as deep of an understanding of alignment issues as Rich is going to have problems playing 'Miko', and further that 'Miko' is best suited for an NPC role rather than a PC.

I don't know that we have that information, but I suspect even if he did, there wouldn't be much for it to do.

With Rich's tendency to unique mounts, it's quite possible he could call something that could, say, untie O'Chul. Or there's always "Draco, I choose you!"....
