"better if been around block a few times" :D

That and the last panel were my favourite bits of this strip. Glad to see that Elan has his priorities straight! :)

Hmm...a good ol' ghost sound with Elan pretending to be the will of Banjo would probably settle everything. Too bad he's not smart enough for that and his tactical aide isn't coming. ^_^

What's with this whole "why didn't she retreat?" "paladin." stuff? There's nothing un-paladin-y about a strategic fallback. The old 3.0 splat book Defenders of the Faith even advised Paladins should know when it's best to live to fight (evil) another day, and that there's nothing glorious about throwing your life away for nothing. It and the broken +3 market price haste effect for armor were the best parts of the book!

It's a quick and easy way to put a damsel in distress for the rest of the party to save without having to explain further. Lien is a fourth-string character, all that matters is how the main cast saves her, not how she got in trouble in the first place.

Sometimes, the only way to ensure your friends get to run away successfully is to be the one who stays behind and delays pursuit. And a paladin won't ask a companion to take that role in their place.

Also, I hate to say it as a former Paladin player, not all Paladins are that smart. They're not all Mikos but too many of them fall distressingly close to Lien.

Don't most paladins have Int as their dump stat? ;)
