V has a necromancer with her/him. V doesn't need to find the phylactery, V can just use some necromancy to bind Xykon's soul before it gets back in Redcloak's holy symbol.

The binding would wear off when the splice does; all spells have their duration ended when the soul splice expires, per the rules of the splice.

I notice the "it wasn't evil" crowd has fallen as silent as the "Miko was being a good Paladin" crowd did after #407.

Nope. Just not got around to adding my thoughts to this thread. V's action in casting Familicide was most definitely not Good. But not Evil. Turnabout is fair play. But he has taken a step down the path to Evil and away from Goodness. And don't forget that the three fiends are each going to get their turn with him.

"Turnabout is fair play" is not valid in D&D. "You tortured my family so I'll torture yours" is an evil act. "You tried to kill three of my family so I'll kill 1000+ of yours" is pretty evil.

Y'know, there's a big frickin' hole in V's plan...

Sure, s/he just wiped off an entire family of Dragons from the face of the world. But that doesn't mean there will be no-one to avenge them.

After all, nobody said Evil dragons couldn't have non-dragon friends and lovers...

But their evil dragons, evil people don't have friends! :p Just people who want to kill them and take their position . And V has given them all exactly what they wanted . . . and a pile-o-treasure:D.

Oh the power vacuum!

(Yes this post is a little tongue-in-cheek.)

Turnabout is fair play.

How exactly is it fair to attack somebody who has never harmed or even met you, simply because they have some chance connection to another complete stranger who has harmed you? How is that ever fair to that individual?
