One thing bugged me, though: why isn't V teleporting back to his family with Durkon to have him heal their broken legs?

More generally, why isn't V doing ANYTHING except standing around, adding more time to the price s/he will pay later. It's really painful to see V just killing time right now.

I'm a bit disappointed that the healing spell worked on V. I expected her/him to scream in pain.

Good strip. Belkar + Durkon + Elan never disappoints.

Only undead are harmed by healing spells: even demons love healing. V is very much alive.

It's not like Vaarsuvius has been loitering around for an hour. It's probably been barely a couple of minutes since Elan and Durkon walked into the room. While avoiding extra time of having your soul committed to fiends is a good thing, Vaarsuvius randomly doing something because he's in a big hurry isn't a good idea.
