whether we can call shenannigans that OOtS or the DM has broken a rule or meta-gamed, the fact is, Belkar did jump.

It may not count as suicidal, also I think there is just a save in 3E, not more. And with Belkar's poor wisdom. (Or was his wisdom high, he just didn't invest in Spot?)

His wisdom is crap. There is a point where he gets Owl's Wisdom cast on him and he starts reflecting on his life choices... and it fades and he doesn't care.
