Open Call for Freelance Writer Submissions - d20 Fantasy

Fifth Element Games is making an open call to freelance writers for submissions on several upcoming d20 fantasy products (detailed below). These will be PDF releases in our schedule over the remainder to the 2007 year. If you are interested, please submit your name and previous writing credits to iain.fyffe@gmail.com. Pay rate is 1/2 to 1 cent per word in US funds, depending on previous experience; please bear this in mind when considering whether to make a submission.

For each project you are interested in submitting for, please include a brief (1-2 paragraph) outline of how you would approach it. While many of the products cover ground that has been covered before, we are looking for new, fresh ideas for each one. The originality of your ideas is key for receiving the assignment. The details presented below for each product are left intentionally vague; we want to see what your ideas are.

Each of these products has an expected word count of 9,000 - 10,000. Payment will be via Paypal, 50% upon acceptance of the manuscript and 50% on the 15th day of the month following the month of publication. A small kill fee will also be provided for.

Feel free to submit on as many products as you like; if we are interested in hiring you for multiple products we can work out a reasonable schedule. Given the number of submissions solicited, we will be leaving this call open for some time.

We're ramping up our production schedule, and we need freelancers! We hope to hear from you.

Submissions Solicited:

A. A book about dark and evil magic, including necromancy/undead and demons/devils. Written as a guide for those who fight evil.

B. A book about golems - variant types, creation rules, etc.

C1. A book about assassins (essentially a splat book - character options and advice for playing the type of character; fresh ideas critical!)

C2. A book about adventurers (see C1 above)

C3. A book about paladins (see C1 above)

C4. A book about small folk (gnomes and halflings, see C1 above, with emphasis on how their Small size affects play)

C5. A book about swashbucklers (see C1 above)

ALL PROJECTS HAVE NOW BEEN ASSIGNED.

The remaining call (small folk) is still open. We haven't received any submissions on it? Where is the love for the gnomes and halflings? Please apply if you're interested.

Same length as the others - 9 to 10 thousand words.

A mix of crunch and fluff is desired, in no pre-set ratio. The ideas are the important part.

Since my plea I have received a couple of submissions for the project, so if you are interested let me know ASAP to be considered.
