Open Call to publishers : who is looking?

We recently yanked our guidelines because our policy changed. We no longer accept proposals from unpublished authors. We have to see a manuscript from an unpublished author. But simply sending it in doesnt mean we own it.

Why the change? Two reasons:

1. We have so many products in the works right now we cant fit many more in so we have the luxury; and

2. we tried to produce modules from some new authors, but 6 flaked on us so that sort of soured us on new authors. I dont want to stop using new authors, but we want to see a full manuscript now.

Its all about the follow through people. So if you are a new author and you send to a company that allows you to do proposals, then follow through with them. Maybe we were just unlucky. But the people that flaked on us peed in the pool for other new authors. As professional publishers we have product schedules and have to account for allocation of resources. That makes untested authors a risk. So follow through!

Natural 20 Press is always interested in accepting submissions, since, like Orcus, we tend to get a lot of people who keep talking until we say, "And we'd like an outline of what you intend to write." Thus, though we get a lot of proposals, we don't have that many products on our schedule.

Plus, since it's DF-inspired, I think it would be obvious to try to talk with us.

What i learned from Bastion:

I was told to have a 'writing' resume and at least 5 to 7 pages of the product typed up. I did it and Bation Press accepted my book =)
