Basically the point is just to provide a place where you as a DM can bounce ideas around without spoiling it for your players.

So if you want to participate as a DM, it's all good as long as you aren't playing in a game run by another participant.

For example: I play and DM, so I haven't invited the two players from my games who also run games that I play in because I want to talk about the games they play in.

I'm not sure if that made sense...

*gets more coffee*

This all started with a discussion about starting up a mailing list for this (but I'm not a fan of them, so I set this up as an alternative).

I am sorry Matt, but he will be terminated. I cannot retract the order once it is given.

Actually, this is a good idea, it just makes the threads less obvious to the players, the neg being, there may not be as many minds working or looking at your quandries.

I don't understand why adventure publishers don't have a forum for each of their published adventures. Monte does it for RttToEE and there is a lot of interest.

So I looked through the board, thought I'd make a few comments here:

1. It's not really something I think I'll be interested in. That doesn't mean it's a bad idea, especially since part of the reason I'm not as interested in it is because I'm already in an online group that does the same thing (but with exclusive, limited membership instead of being open to the public) - I don't know that I could commit the time necessary to play in both.

2. I don't use modules, but I think that having a forum devoted to discussing modules (weaknesses and workarounds, variants, ways of handling certain events, etc.) would be really good for a lot of GMs.

3. Currently, there are way too many forums. Your traffic is likely to be light for a few months while you build up a core membership, and having so many forums will just divide them even more... not to mention point up the forums getting no attention. I would rip out all but 1 or 2 forums, call them "General" (for real discussions) and "Meta" (for board questions, admin stuff, etc.), and leave it at that. When the traffic gets significant enough to need more forums, you should also have a better handle on what kinds of forums your membership needs.

4. I would put your board in your sig. Something simple, like "ask me about the DM's Dungeon" or something.

No need. Im the only member of either of the groups im in that comes here, with the exception of belares, and he only comes here to ask a question maybe once every other month, or if we need something mid-game.
