The Silver Fin Tavern, Solinburg

In the midst of busy docks district of Mittendien's second-largest city, the Silver Fin Tavern lives up to its surroundings. People of all sorts come and go as they please, and all are treated equally. The only ones that are frowned upon are the city guards, but as long as they keep things quiet, even they are served.

The half-elf owner, Adam Burton, shows very little of his elven heritage. He is not afraid to break up a fight and direct the participants outside lest they have to pay for damages. His human wife runs the kitchen, and his daughter helps serve. His son helps keep the customers in line, and most regulars know that any assault on the serving wench's honor will be met harshly.

The food is passable, with most dishes involving fresh fish from the lake, or hunted game. Adam carries a full range of Mittendien and Thoradur ales and wines, as well as some expensive imports.

So a dwarf and a halfling walk into a bar...

The halfling is Kirran, though his uncharacteristically black hair and darkened face make it difficult to tell. He claps the dwarf on the shoulder and nods, and without breaking stride the pair separate. Kirran makes his way across the room to the bar, claims a mug of ale, and settles down comfortably. By all appearances he's just the same as any other bar patron - laughing and joking with his neighbors, winking (but just winking) at the serving wench, and generally enjoying himself. The entire time, though, he's keeping one eye on the door, hoping to catch a glimpse of a man who matches the description he's been given.

The dwarf is in fact Spingear Spindlefingers, but his Alter Self spell is solid and real, and only magical inspection would reveal that this dwarf is actually a gnome. His beard is long and brown, and a jagged scar creases his left eye almost closed. He walks to an empty table, whether he is greeted or not, and flags down the server girl. "Fried cod, and a pint of Thoradur Red. And make it snappy, I haven't got all night." A snake lies braided loosely into his beard, holding very still, and colored to be almost invisible against the ragged mat of brown.

She smiles faintly, and nods.
"As ye wish, master dwarf."

The tavern is abustle with activity, and every hour or so a group of three or four crew from some ship in port will come in, while another staggers out.

A man with a ebony long bow across his back walks in, fully hooded and walking with a natural grace and quietness hinting of his elven background. Looking around the place, he tries not to make it obvious that he is even here, much less looking for someone. Not seeing who he is looking for, he finds a dark corner table and blends in as much as possible, searching around the place constantly with the hidden eyes beneath the cloak.
