Open World Press is pleased to announce that the long-awaited "World of Whitethorn 1C: The City of Calas" is scheduled for release in the second half of 2005!

This will be the most fully-detailed city book ever published with over 200 locations, including shops, residences, and other places of interest in and around the City of Calas, all in a hardcover book. It will have short adventures and quests involving the mysterious and enchanting forests nearby.

Discover the mystical powers of the Wyngwe and their beloved Sacred Flame! Foil the sinister plot against King Anuron! Is Prince Hetnar friend or foe? Reveal the true identity of the shadowy wizard Farahar who dwells in the tower by the city! What is causing the owlbears to stir from their hidden caves and attack the farmers? Will you be able to stop the war against the Kingdom of Dunmar? Most important of all, can you unlock the ancient history of the Druids and the Spirits of the Forest?

"World of Whitethorn 1C: The City of Calas" will also include GM tips on how to design a fantasy city and ways to populate it with interesting NPCs and create exciting adventures.

This will be the first truly independent release by Open World Press. It will be published with d20 rules as well as that of another yet-to-be announced system. We don't know because we're still shopping for the right one!

All of our future releases will be available through Indie Press Revolution, a new site offering only high-quality RPGs and related products from independent publishers and artists. It is scheduled for official launch in the coming weeks.

one more question:

Is Clayton Bunce doing the cartography once again? (I hope so)

Yes, he should. He better! I'll have A LOT of work for him to do on this one. :D

IF you truly top CSIO I will be impressed. Either way, since I like your Whitehorn books so far I will get this, even if it isn't better than CSIO. :)

You may want to avoid using absolutes. Isn't AEG releasing "World's Largest City" next year? If it's anything like their last giant release it's very likely to have a lot more than what you're describing.

It's always safer to use terms like "one of" when describing a product. Such as:

"This will be one of the most . . . "

This sounds like a fantastic project. I know that it's something that the d20 market doesn't currently have enough of. It was like after Bluffside struggle and Freeport became a sort of de-facto city, that publishers said, "Well, that's enough of that." The notable exception to that has been CSIO and the WLC, probably coming in Gen Con 2005.

Glad to see another city hitting the stands.

Can't wait to see this Ed. And very excited to hear about it being hardcover and containing stats for a non-d20 game system.

Keep up the great work!

Just as an FYI, Paradigm Concepts has produced two city books/products:
Carnival of Swords (which details the small city of Old Coryan) and City of Secrets (which details the ancient city of Nishanpur). Each comes with maps, lots of details and a full blown adventure to start you city campaign.

Best,
