I love Castle Amber, if you like high-fantasy high-weirdness, definitely get it. Isle of Dread is good but very bare-bones as written, you need to put some effort into fleshing it out. It's good with motivated players who don't need their hands held.

ok, so i bought isle of dread and the keep on the borderlands.

im reading the keep, then i realize that i have te Return to the keep on the borderlands.

what do you guys think of this module?
i mean, theres some info like the keeps name (i didnt finish the original, so maybe the name is there too), the keep map, a map of the near area...

i think i will use some of the Return material in the original Keep

what do you guys think?

RttKotB is ok. The map's pretty much the same, they named the NPCs (!), and added some plot to it. Beware of evil NPCs playing strip chess though.

Castle Amber I love the hell out of. A DM who runs it with wit and verve can get a lot of mileage out of it. That RPG.net's review was a little too po-mo ironic ("Ooo look, I'm playing a module *snork*) for me to stand reading for very long.

ok, but i thing the adventure is about 20 years later than the KotB.

the original dont have a map to the keep, neithern a map from the region...

IIRC, they both do, and the maps of the Caves of Chaos are pretty much the same from the original. Some of the monster factions from the first (such as the orcs) are removed (killed off in interspecies combat), but if the players never played through the first one, no one would know the difference.

In the original Keep on the Borderlands the map of the keep and the wilderness map were on a perforated-for-easy-removal sheet in the middle of the module (along with a sheet of collected charts & tables from the Basic Rulebook). Sounds like your copy is probably missing those sheets...

Castle Amber is a fine module but one warning: your party, if they're the least bit competent, will come out of there *stinking* rich, so throw out any ideas you might have had for wealth-by-level. :)
