Opinions on the Factotum

My group is starting a new game, and one player is considering a factotum.

IMPORTANT: The game is going to be E6, so only the first 6 levels of the class will be available. However, that also means we will have plenty of feats to choose from.

I've never seen the class in play, what is the general opinion about it? How does it handle combat, how does it handle out of combat scenarios?

Remember, only the first 6 levels matter.

I haven't played one yet, but I'm definitely interested in the concept and it sounds like it's not too overpowered.
