Oppression vs. Ambition

Cycle: 502, Day: 251, Season: Shiftings
Reacting faster than any of the gangers, Jalakaag charges into the one nearest him, knocking him from his feet and sending him backward a full four strides. The four other boys have no idea that he was able to generate a pulse of air to aid in his assault. Knocking the first opponent from his feet prevents him from launching his harpoon, but the second boy manages to stab Jalakaag.

Also faster than the gangers, Whiron flings his snail shell into his unsuspecting enemy, which causes no harm of itself but releases a gonging sound when it strikes. The gonging sound irritates the other boy but nothing more. Whiron is also able to avoid the first harpoon launched at him but not the second. He too is bloodied. Having no sense of Waylines, much less being able to manipulate them, the gangers think nothing of the gonging sound. They cannot conceive that Whiron caused it. Whiron, however, immediately recognizes the slight change in manipulation that his friend generated and its greater effectiveness.
