Options and Multiclassing...

Yes, taking the basic multiclass feat means that you qualify as a member of that class for feats and paragon paths. Many paragon paths have only class requirements to get in. The primary exceptions to this are the warlock and ranger classes, whose paragon paths also include requirements like a specific fighting style or pact. I suspect this will handled in errata, but I think waiving those requirements for multiclassed characters is reasonable.

Note that none of this ever gives the basic class features of the other class. For example, in RAW, multiclassing in ranger will never give you the quarry bonus except for once per encounter. This may not matter for some builds, but some ranger powers and path features benefit from having multiple or long-lasting quarry status. From early design blogs, I suspect that the designers at one point created specific paragon paths for multiclassing PCs that granted these basic features and powers that made sense for such characters. My guess is that we'll see these being published or made by third parties.

Actually, now that I think of it, I really do wish they had included a specific paragon path for multiclassed characters and *not* allowed multiclassers easy access to the other paragon paths. I think that paragon paths should really be a significant plus for PCs who keep a strong, in-class focus. I dislike character building that finds ways to create extremely effective characters by combining unintended cross-class synergies, although I realize that I'm a minority in this.

Hmm... the Ranger-Multiclass-Hunter's Quarry seems to be pretty good to use with other powers, since the only thing you do not get is the ability to choose another target instead of your current one during an encounter, so you have to choose wisely.

Multiple applications of the Hunter's Quarry are only useful for the Battlefield Archer, if I am not mistaken, and that Path also grants the ability to apply it to multiple targets at once, so that seems covered, even if you would get there as a Multiclass choice (given the DM permits it, because of the aforementioned requirement issues).

True Multiclass Paragon Pathes would be great (at least 2 per combination) and really seem to be missing, but well, the game is still young. :D

An idea I am toying with is to remove the "swap" part of re-training and multi-classing, to an extend.

Encounter powers:
Each encounter, you can choose to use the retrained or multi-class power, or the "old" power.

Daily Powers:
As Encounter Powers, but you choose each day.

Utility Powers are more difficult.
Some are at-wills, some are encounters, some are daily.
So my guess is you choose the first time you use them at all, or each day. That might be the best approach for every power...

This way, people can still use their "old" powers, if they really want to, and you can still keep your original abilities. It probably encourages a new kind of "dipping" - you just pick a multi-class feat on the off-chance you might need a "Cure Light Wounds" or a "Fireball" today, but if everything goes right, you can stay in your role and class.

But I want implement anything until I have seen a few characters grow in play and use the rules as-is. But i'd be happy to hear other peoples opinions or use it, so they can report back. ;)

I just ruled that for the Paragon Multiclassing "choice" the character gets an additional feat choice at each Paragon Power level. This "gives back" the 3 "wasted" feats to get into the PMC and it also helps "even out" the power of a PMC compared to a regular Paragon Class.

A simple and elegant solution. Considering the power of most Paragon paths I think 3 feats might be an appropriate return.
