Orc & Pie?

I have sad news.

I recieved official confirmation from the Bioware staff that pies will not be included in the initial release of Neverwinter Nights. Nor, for that matter, will any sort of baked good.

Gaming groups who have a desire to recreate this epic adventure on-line will have to look elsewhere. Such a pity.

Despite the lack of the pie in NWN, perhaps other graphics will be included that would serve in a pinch. I think a nice potted plant would serve nicely in the pie's stead. Orc and Plant.

Of course, what kind of plant is it? Ficus? Vidalia Onion? Marijuana?

"The Orc and the dooby." Doesn't quite have the same ring, does it? :)

Can't wait to see the encounter scaling in THAT adventure. :D

"Orc and Pie" sounds, to me, like the name of a painting.

Having an artist selling such a painting, or even be found in the studio painting a posing orc and pie would be an easter egg that would be easy to insert into a campaign. Hmmm.

I ran this adventure for a Rogue and a Barbarian.

The first round the Rogue won the initiative and caught the Orc flat footed. He managed a Sneak Attack and killed the Orc.

On his turn, the Barbarian Raged. Then the player told me he wanted to Sunder the Pie. I tried to explain that the Pie was an unattended object and not normally subject to the Sunder rules. Even if the Orc hadn't been killed, he was not occupying the same space as the Pie and therefore (as Shadowdancer astutely pointed out) didn't "have" the Pie.

The player started to get angry that I had "shafted" Sunder.

Rather than argue about it, I let the Barbarian have his way. He Sundered the Pie and ate his half of it the following round as a Move Equivalent Action. But I did get him back for his whining.

Since the module didn't specify, it was a Rot Grub Pie.

Maybe I should start a Story Hour thread about this adventure.

OKmy question is:
in the module, the orc is holding the pie, and you want the pie. Now what if the orc, seeing that you want his pie, starts to lose the fight.

Does he
A) eat the pie as his next move knowing that he would have denied you pis
B) drop the pie, double handing his axe and protecting it with his life
C) share
D) call for backup- a horde of hungry orcs that have no pie- and willing o share his

or

E) start running for dear life- sctreaming "MY PIE!! MY PIE!!" all the way home.....

The trouble with A and E is that they just don't work - eating the pie and running both provoke attacks of opportunity.

Between B, C, and D we are left with *more* than our own judgement. To quote the adventure:

Creature: An orc.

And to quote the SRD:

Orc

[...]

Alignment: Usually chaotic evil

"Evil" implies hurting, oppressing, and killing others. Some evil creatures simply have no compassion for others and kill without qualms if doing so is convenient. Others actively pursue evil, killing for sport or out of duty to some evil deity or master.

"Chaos" implies freedom, adaptability, and flexibility. On the downside, chaos can include recklessness, resentment toward legitimate authority, arbitrary actions, and irresponsibility.

As a result, the solution that is most trueto the rules is "B".

How about The Orc and the Shrubbery?

Everyone knows that brave knights are always trying to get their hands around a good shrubbery.

:D

What is wrong with you people?

You are all debating endlessly about an orc and a pie

For gods sakes

It should be a cheese cake

Cheese cake is so much better then pie, especially with strawberry topping

*collapses down on to the floor and starts giggling hilariously*
The orc... has the pie! Heeheehee! Coconut... flavoured banana flavoured chocolate flavoured pie! Must... not let... orc... have... PIE!!! Pie is good, yes, very good pie! Hoo! Yes, orc must not have pie! Yes! Coconut flavoured orc! Eeh!
*gets shot*
