Dear god I am already in love with that class.
Me, too. How long before it gets created somewhere around here?

Drowbane, if Gelbun dies, we'll learn to fear the bard. Keep him alive at all costs!

Finally Elan will be able to do something in combat besides sing-sing-sing the others to victory! This plot thread is really starting to build into something good. I really hope that Thog stays on the scene for a good while yet. He has become my new favourite character. :)

I was grinning as soon as "third party book I found in the discount bin" was mentioned.

Mostly from memories of seeing some horribly overblown Prestige Classes come out of several third party books whose names I have blissfully forgotten.

Although seeing Elan actually being effective in combat would likely force Roy to make a very difficult Knowledge (limits of my own sanity) check.

I also got a laugh out of the padawan dialogue as well.

There's a flaw in that plan, though. It requires Elan to be witty. Given that Elan's way with words seem to be mostly limited to "verb, verb, verb, verb, verb the adjective noun!", I'm not sure he'll go far with that class.

Of course, Mr. Bardic Spellcasting here can say a thing or two about Elan never using some of his class abilities, so Elan won't be the worst for it.

I liked the reference to third party books.

Gadzooks! This single strip almost makes up for the entire Miko plotline!

That Charisma for Strength substitution... hmmmm, I wonder if James Bond has levels in Dashing Swordsman. I'd say he loaded up on it when he looked like Pierce Brosnan.
