Well, Elan did want to learn to be a Wizard from V way back when. . .this is kind of his wish coming true.

So. . .Elan has been taught how to be a competent swordfighter by Julio Scoundrel, and now is being taught how to be an effective caster by V. When Roy comes back to life he won't know what to think when Elan is even more effective.

I imagine this more like the player of V, standing over the player of Elan, looking at his spell list, and telling him what to cast, how to cast, and how to explain it to the DM so that it works. :)

I think it's pretty impressive that we are treated - nigh thrice-weekly - to comics that can be spoken of in halves.

Oh, hey--I wasn't meaning to complain (I find it sad when people complain about a free web comic). Just that the first half was lackluster compared to the latter half. That, I admit, I did not see until after I came here and saw people talking.

I didn't even notice it was a double-length (I think?) page.

Interesting thought... What if Elan's being groomed to become the de facto leader of the OotS in Roy's stead. I never did see Haley as the leader type.

Nah, V has no ranks in Hide, probably nothing but an elven Dexterity bonus, and s/he takes a -20 circumstance penalty for wearing red in Azure City. ;)

You have to remember: V isn't the only person with a red cloak in the city. Case in point: Redcloak. :)

And, it was more of the 'I detect a PC' check than seeing him; you only see the cloak's bottom peeking out from the crowd.

Nah. Leadership takes more than charisma. It also takes intelligence and common sense. Elan has neither. He'd be a disaster as a leader.

I'd have to whole-heartedly disagree (and use all my willpower not to say something I really oughtn't).

Elan has a good heart, he's driven to do what's right, and he cares about the rest of his team members. Now, he's also an accomplished swordsman and, it seems, may soon be a decent spellcaster as well. Potency and direction are the two most important leadership characteristic.

Elan would do well as the "Face" of the party, handling diplomacy and such, while Haley would actually handle the decision-making aspects of leadership.

...Still, I'm waiting for Roy's comeback.

I'm just hoping Hinjo's attack on that Goblin Cleric doesn't mean he might die soon..

I'm not saying Elan is a bad person, I just think he has leadership flaws. Severe leadership flaws. It's a bit like saying [insert celebrity singer here] is a good leader just because he/she is a nice person to deal with and has loads of groupies/fanboys. I think very few people have what it takes to be a good leader, and that's not intended to be an insult.

:D

I love Elan!

My signature is getting crowded, with all of the quotable material in OOTS!
