Organization/classification of RPG books

(Dunno if this could be placed in an appropriate section, but I played safe by putting it into Off Topic.)

Anyway....

Has anybody ever considered coming up with an appropriate way to classify and shelve their (presumably vast and growing fast) collection of rpg books / accessories / etc.?

P.S. I was discussing this with my wife, who is a librarian, who suggested trying to create a faceted classification scheme, but I'm currently failing to come up with appropriate facets.

I have my didvidided by system. THen within the system they are divided in to categories (like workd books, clan books, etc) or publisher for the d20 books. From there they are either in order of number if they are numbered or alphebitized. THen when that's all done after about a week, I've totaly messed it all up

I've got mine seperated by genre, then system, then publisher. There are a few areas where this doesn't work: all my Star Wars books are together (West End Games and WoTC), all my boxed sets are on the same shelf, etc. Thats just the 2 large bookshelves, the closet is another matter altogether... :\

Mine are separated by system, then by how much I use them. My bookcase is a little bit of a mess, so the ones I use the most often get the spots that are easiest to get to. A section for HERO, Cyberpunk, old editions of D&D and other games, d20 not currently in use, d20 I'm likely to use. Then Fantasy Flight gets their own section. I really like their stuff.

Mine are seperated by system, ownership, and use. The more use the book gets, the further to the left it goes in its section.

Mine are sorted by use.

The in-use books are on the bookshelf. Everything else is in a box.
