Prophet of the profane (She/Her)
I've started playing RPGs again. Which means, I have thoughts.
So.... I'm playing in a 50 player Grimwild campaign ran by two amazing gamemasters. I'm having so much fun it's unbelievable. Logistically, there's a groupchat with all the players, where GMs post announcements for what are essentially self-contained one-shots at specific time and date, and let the players enlist. Narratively, we are employees/slaves of some sort of guild that sends us to dangerous jobs.
This format creates a really cool feeling of a living world where things happen even when you are not looking, and those are real things that actually did happen, and aren't just some random table roll or illusion conjured by game masters, I can talk to people who were there and ask them about it. Or, rather, they will tell me about it in a form of a play report, or an in-character diary, or a letter home, or a little sketch, that give them opportunities to express their character more than they could at the table. It's, truly, amazing.
You! Yes you! Go start an organized play. It rocks.
