Happy Dance!

Yay, I have two nominations. One for game design and one for graphic design -- both nominations for the same game: Dork Tower.

what kinds of categories are those? who plays games by mail these days, anyway? and historical minis?

i think these awards need to update a bit.

Historical Minis and Play-by-mail games still do represent a significant market share in the Games (not just roleplaying games) industry. The Origins Awards recognize excellence in many areas and not just roleplaying.

I don't know about play my mail, but historical minis might actually be bigger then fantasy minis. If you happen to come by Origins, they always have huge tables with historic wars being fought out. These guys are serious in their hobby. You just don't see a lot of cross over between them and RPGs so many gamers have no idea how big it is.

I've got a friend who is an Historical Miniatures gamer, and it's a whole different ballgame than fantasy miniatures games. He has two armies, either of which would dwarf any WH army I've ever seen. Those guys are fanatical about detail and accuracy in their armies. While they are playing "games" they look at it on a whole different level.
