[OT] 101 Flash mob ideas

Surely you've heard of flash mobs. Basically it's a bunch of people (50+) who converge on a certain spot, performs some odd activity, and then disperses as if the event didn't take place at all. Leaving any spectators bewildered.

The first rule of flash mobs is "you don't talk (to the media) about flash mobs" because that would make the flash mob into a picket line and that would defeat it's very purpose (and likely be illegal too).

At one time hundreds of people suddenly rushed into a department store and stopped to look at a great plastic dinosaur in awe, before leaving the store and dispersing.

At another time a great crowd simultaneously produced bananas which they ate, before leaving the spot on their respective ways.

At yet another time a hundred people went to a carpet shop and wished to buy a "love rug" for their suburban commune.

I learned about this phenomenon today and got an idea for a flash mob.

Night of the living flash mob:

Flash mobbers are invited to go to a certain mall at a certain time. The mobbers are supposed to act normal as mall-goers do. At a given signal all mobbers "turn zombie" and walk around, sit around or otherwise behave as zombies for two minutes. When the two minutes are up the mobbers immediately turn normal again and leave the mall at their convenience.

All Singing All Dancing Flash Mob

Go to Large Department Store X. Mingle with crowd. At 6:00 PM, spontaneously break into the store jingle (or another clean song, preferably something from a Doris Day movie for that surreal touch). Disperse.

At a predermined time, the mobbers walk out into the street, roll a D20 until it comes up "20," shout "Critical hit!" and walk away.

Make it an absolutely huge d20 - one fifteen feet across or something - that the entire mob is needed for to lift it up and properly roll it

The best Flash Mob I've heard about was outside a movie theatre in New York (I think). 50+ people showed up on one side of the street, with red baloons. 50+ on the other side of the street with blue baloons. The red baloon mob starts shouting "marco!", the blue baloon mob replies "polo!". This goes on for a few minutes, the baloons are released, and the mob disperses.

I've heard Flash Mobs described as "like a protest, only without all the politics".

Surreal...
