Hello all,

I have some PDF's of printed books that I'm trying to capture text from to put in MS Word.

My problem is their are pictures on some of the pages and they seem to freak out the program and wont scan through it.

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Exchange 3.0.

Anyone have any ideas?

I know I could just scan the pages out of the book and cover the pictures, but I'm looking to keep the work to a minum. I'm already looking at having to fix the OCR text errors.

Thanks

I'm not familiar with AA Exchange, but i'm guessing that you can deselect the images that do need to be OCRed...

Is the text you want to capture actual text (seperate symbols) or is at an image (picture)?

If it's selectable text you can use the column tool in Acrobat to copy the text, and then paste it to Word.

If it's an image you could try to export the image to an image format (i personally prefer Tiff).

If you've got the image from the pdf you can use regular OCR software (ABBY Finereader is my personal favorite)...
