Erevan's Guide to Death and Beyond - A 5e Tome.png

Erevan's Guide to Death and Beyond - A 5e Tome from Archvillain Games
  • END DATE: Thu, June 20 2024 4:59 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: €92 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the books, scrolls, and notes
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is the next project to crack a million dollars in crowdfunding in 2024. From Archvillain Games, this crowdfunding offers a 350-page book stacked with undead monsters for your 5e game plus miniatures and a 200-page adventure. Bringing their massive Patreon base to the campaign, this project has enough support to offer over 85 monsters and bosses, new game mechanics, familiars, a new class (The Thanatomancer), subclasses, over 40 spells, and a campaign where you die at the beginning and journey from there. Plus miniatures to bring the boss monsters to unlife. The theme is undead and the dark planes of existence; each word of their pitch screams out undeath and the monstrous horrors that could come from fighting the dead. It’s looks like a quality project. If you’re interested, they offer four preview PDFs featuring their creatures, an adventure, and more on the Kickstarter page.

Outgunned Adventure.png

Outgunned Adventure from Two Little Mice
  • END DATE: Jun 20, 2024 at 6:00pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Director's Cut
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: €149 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the books, booklet, GM screen, dice, deck, poster, and more
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This project is a pulp adventure TTRPG inspired by Indiana Jones and Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy. The system, Director’s Cut, uses small pools of d6s; success requires matching results (a pair of 3s or three 4s or the like). Outgunned Adventure is presented as a standalone action TTRPG or it can be used as a sourcebook to augment the system’s other books and add more modern story elements. Want to try out this project? Check out the campaign page for a link to the free PDF quickstart.
Vast Grimm Horde- No Safe Haven.png

Vast Grimm Horde: No Safe Haven from Creature Curation
  • END DATE: Jun 21, 2024 at 9:00pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Mörk Borg (Vast Grimm variant)
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook and adventures
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $65 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the books
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Last week, I got to play an in-store session of The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game. It turned out the GM and I had played Vast Grimm last year. Before The Walking Dead, we caught up and discussed how good that session of Vast Grimm was with the space adventure, space death, and space wyrms. Our talk put me in the right mood to discuss this project, Vast Grimm Horde: No Safe Haven. Civilization across the universe is dying, infected with nasty wyrms, it’s mutating and decomposing. In this miserable filth, you’re trying to eek out one more day of life each and every day. To support your struggle, this campaign offers four books. No Safe Haven is an adventure exploring two of the Marauder's Cryosfear; think of a dungeon exploration in space. A Grimm Outlook is another adventure book, this one built around the idea of a larger campaign and narrative. In Helltrap Barges, your crew is exploring an ever-shifting “dungeon” owned by a trash king who is pushing the great heaps of rubbish around, always reinventing his trash world. For those new to Vast Grimm, this Mörk Borg-based TTRPG is part of the artpunk layout revolution popularized by Mörk Borg, Mothership, and others. These layouts look fantastic, but can be hard for reference-at-a-glance while GMing. Acknowledging that, this campaign offers Vast Grimm: Skeleton Crew, which presents the core rulebook in a clean, organized text-only format. Just want an easy-to-read version of the game? Then get the Skeleton Crew. If you’re looking for fun, deadly, Mörk Borg-style sci-fi adventures, this project is worth a read. Check out the Backerkit campaign page to get a free quickstart.
Neon Skies - Alternative Cyberpunk Tabletop Roleplaying.png

Neon Skies - Alternative Cyberpunk Tabletop Roleplaying from Wyloch's Armory
  • END DATE: Wed, June 26 2024 4:31 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $65 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • AI STATEMENT: “All of the artwork is human-made, and has already been commissioned out of pocket, at-risk. The invoices have already been paid. The majority of the artwork for Neon Skies was done by David Simons (moniker Arcvein Art).”
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? In this cyberpunk TTRPG, the Infusion gives everyone a virtual reality via direct, wireless connection to OmniNet. Added at the DNA level, the Infusion leads to new awareness and body modifications. In turn, there are challenges such as the ability for others to reprogram your character. In a world where your beliefs can be controlled in a very real sense, being you is the ultimate rebellion. If you want to fight for the right to be yourself, this TTRPG offers you everything you’ll need to think your own thoughts. For creators interested in supporting the game, this campaign offers a free license to publish your work using this system.

A Collection of Fantasy Maps II.png

A Collection of Fantasy Maps II from De Architecturart
  • END DATE: Mon, June 24 2024 8:01 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): System neutral
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: €110 + S/H for the PDF, VTT, and print versions of the first and second collections plus a slipcase, maps, dungeons, and one-page adventures
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? I respect a lot of mapmakers and try not to pick favorites, but when I see the maps by Guillaume Tavernier of De Architecturart, they bowl me over. These pictures are both maps and works of art. Three dimensional, beautifully detailed with warm lights and vibrant colors, easily interpreted, unique, and designed to offer players visual adventure options, these are among my favorite fantasy maps. As an example, on the campaign page there’s an image-map of a multi-story structure that sits atop a giant oxen. If you share that image with your gaming table, they will fall in love with the giant pack-animal, the structure, and the mayhem the players can produce with both. That’s to say, these image-maps are very visual and you have to see them to appreciate the work, so I recommend checking out the campaign page and downloading the free preview.

Iskandar Adventures 5E.png

Iskandar Adventures 5E from M.T. Black
  • END DATE: Thu, June 20 2024 8:26 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition
  • PROJECT TYPE: Adventures
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: AU$15 for the PDFs and digital maps
  • DISCLAIMER: M.T. Black freelances for EN World
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This campaign offers a book of five 5e adventures. You’re getting adventures that run from recovering a missing farmer to fighting a siege to a quest that poses the question: Can enlightenment be dangerous? As a bonus to backers, you’ll get a free PDF copy of the Iskandar Player’s Handbook to set these adventures in their proper context, though they can be placed within any 5e campaign. Do you need adventures? If so, this 140-page book offers a variety to choose from, and the bonus isn’t a bad extra to add to your library.

Fantasy RPG Zine Double Feature - Delver 15 and Runes 4.png

Fantasy RPG Zine Double Feature - Delver 15 and Runes 4 from The Tabletop Engineer
  • END DATE: Sun, June 23 2024 11:59 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Old-School Essentials and Shadowdark RPG
  • PROJECT TYPE: RPG zines
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $22 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the zines
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? The Tabletop Engineer is back with two more OSR zines. Delver #15 is random tables and an adventure designed for systems such as Old-School Essentials, Swords & Sorcery, and Basic Fantasy RPG. Runes #4 is written for the Shadowdark RPG. (On a sidenote, the Shadowdark RPG won the Three Castles Award for Best Old School Product of the Year at North Texas RPG Con on June 9, 2024. Congratulations to Kelsey Dionne!) Each issues focuses on different content inspired by the feel of old school OSR for Delver versus Shadowdark for Runes. If you’re a fan of these systems and want some random options for your gaming table, these zines may appeal to you.

Voidrunner's Codex Sci-Fi Box Set For D&D 5E & Level Up- A5E.png

Voidrunner's Codex Sci-Fi Box Set For D&D 5E & Level Up: A5E from EN Publishing
  • END DATE: Thu, July 4 2024 6:00 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition and Advanced Fifth Edition
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebooks
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £110 + S/H for the PDF, VTT, and print versions of the boxed set
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? If you’re interested in sci-fi and A5E or 5e then this project offers everything you’ll need to build space into those systems. With three sourcebooks, you’ll get crunch, ships, and an adventure. In Voidrunner's Codex, you’ll get new player options, psionics, classes, hacking, an alien bestiary, and more. Star Captain's Manual gives you ships including rules for space exploration and ship-to-ship combat. Want to build your own ship? This book provides everything you’ll need to make that happen. Then there’s Escape from Death Planet, a grindhouse titled adventure covering levels 1 to 3. The planet you’re mining is targeted for destruction by the Imperium. You have to gather enough resources to get off the planet before they the can wipe you out. Add to this mix, there’s a boxed set with a slipcase, 200+ tokens, 20 poster maps, and, best of all, a magnetic Narrator's Screen. The screen wraps around the boxed set, and should be quite the showpiece. If you’re a fan of A5E or 5e and want a lot of sci-fi options for your game, this project is worth your time.

I talked myself out of buying a big book of Lord of the Rings-style maps for the United States. Yes, they're neat, but what would I do with it, other than look through it once?
I find that the only way these maps really work is if you start with a map and build the adventure from it, which can feel a bit backwards.

I imagine if you play pick up games or sandbox style games, you can just throw something together and use the maps as inspiration. But a lot of times these maps have details players absolutely will use, so it's not always as simple as "use a dungeon" as the map itself complicates things if you're not familiar with it.

That said, I own nearly all the big books of maps and keep hoping to use them some day.

Two Little Mice just reached out to all the people who backed Broken Compass, announcing that they'd reacquired the brand and that they were merging it with Outgunned Adventure, which they're giving a free DTRPG copy of to everyone who backed Broken Compass.

Low/no cost to them, but a good way to onboard people like me. I would guess we'll see the Broken Compass supplements revamped and reissued as Outgunned Adventure supplements in the future, which is good. (They had a "Golden Age" 1920s-1940s book, a Golden Age of Piracy book, and a 19th Century Jules Verne era book, along with a big book of short settings with rules tweaks.)

wonder why CMON went to all the trouble to pick it up.... they had also picked up the RPG Ruin Masters and Trudvang.
They made a boardgame "Dead Keep" from Ruin Masters, wonder if they were planning on a boardgame for Broken Compass that didn't work out.

Yes, they mentioned in the announcement stream that they plan to convert these books to Outgunned Adventure (which they say they consider Broken Compass 2.0) in the future.
