[OT, Alternity] Did anyone ever run the adventure in "Tangents"?

I'm thinking about buying the Tangents PDF and running the adventure in the back.

I've thumbed through the book...it looks like Sliders meets Stargate --- some scientists and techs are missing in a parallel dimension, and a team of experts gets called to mount a rescue.

I'd run it as a d20 Modern one-shot [with the option for follow-ups]...probably sixth-level characters with appropriately quirky backgrounds --- the Green Beret turned anthropologist, the geophysicist mountain climber, the theoretical physicist with the black belt in aikido, etc. Sort of a Buckaroo Banzai thing, in fact.

Anyway...has anyone played or run this adventure, or at least read it thoroughly enough to comment?

I bought the book and read through it way back when. I never got the chance to play through it, but I thought that it would be a decent game. I see no reason why it wouldn't work, although I haven't even looked at d20 Modern. Is it a worthy game?

Oh, that's a whole other thread.

As with anything else, opinions about d20 Modern vary. It's certainly the slickest version of the d20 rules thus far [and gives some indication as to what we can expect of D&D 3.5]

Me, I love the rules. The three sample settings I could take or leave [although Urban Arcana shows promise, and I'll take a long hard look at the full-blown campaign book], and a good chunk of the book is redundant if you own the three D&D core books.

Take a look at the SRD --- it's all the mechanics, stripped of flavor.
