[OT] Anyone else concerned about the number of CRPGs coming out this year?

Will Morrowind be more like Daggerfall or more like Redguard? It really looks more like the spiritual successor to Redguard to me. Redguard was a very good game - highly underrated and underexposed in my opinion. I'm looking forward to Morrowind.

I've never understood the love affair with Baldur's Gate myself. Compared with something like Fallout, Baldur's Gate was helluva tedious. I suppose that I never played BG 2 though, but I didn't really want to after the first one.

Concerned? Yeah. There is not enough CRPG products flooding the software section of my CompUSA. Everything is either RT Strategy or MMORPG (with monthly online fee).

I'm glad we'll get some this year, from basic hack-and-slash to "host your own MORPG" party. Still, it is not enough.

Yeah, I've been eagerly anticipating NWN since it was announced and IWD2 interests me a lot more now that it is completely 3e. Not only that, but we only have another 8 days before a mini gaming explosion begins, with Dungeon Siege, Morrowind, Jedi Knight II, Might and Magic IX, and Heroes of Might and Magic IV, all of which I have been looking forward to, scheduled to come out between 3/29 and 4/5. I don't know how I will find time for them all, since I haven't even finished Wizardy 8 yet.

Just remember, wait for a month until the first patch is out -- or in the case of Morrowind, wait for at least the seventh patch to come out -- Bethesda has got to have the worst QA dept. I have ever seen. Daggerfall was the most bug ridden game released -- and even after six patches it still had major problems. It is one of the few games I have ever returned.

Icewind Dale 2 is no longer 2e/3e. It is purely 3rd Edition.

Not from what I understand (though I may be understanding wrong). While it may not be 2e/3e, it's not going to truly be 3e either. I've read that they've "implimented some 3e rules".

And I can't fathom why someone would play IWD2 when you could play NWN. It's like playing Civ:Call to Power instead of Civ3.

I just wish NWN for the Mac would have the entire toolset, rather than just the game and player client...

Unless they decided to port everything to the Mac? Please say they did ;)
