[OT] Basketball anyone?

Also nice to note that my beloved LA Clippers ranked above Boston, New Jersey, and Sacramento in average attendance this year (and that without a playoff showing).
Well, that's a little misleading, since Sacramento, for example, has been completely sold out for years.
They can't stuff more people into Arco Arena.

And I don't believe that the ratings are really that impacting...
Ever since the Superbowl with THE RAVENS, there's no way market-share or ratings dictates who plays in the big dance.

I just wish Webber would play like he COULD.
Did anyone see the ESPN article today on how he's not the go-to guy?

Baltimore is certainly a much larger market than Green Bay, and quite possilby a larger market than all of Wisconsin. So I'd have to say any market-share conspiracy theories were shattered when the Packers (a force for good) won the thing in 1996, not when the Ravens (a force for evil) avoided losing in 2000.

Saw it. He's nuts. What else is Webber supposed to do? Sell popcorn at halftime?

Weber is an awesme player- and that is coming from a Laker fan. He is the leading scorer fro the Sac Kings- and has picked them up many a times during the series. In game three, the Lakers were making a run, and Weber was the one to end it- crushing the hopes of a comeback. In game five, he was the one to set the pick that leveled Fisher giving Bibby the clear shot home.

the only reason he is catching flak from the critics is because he is not playing the type of BBall that they want him to play. he is a huge forward- but opts to stay around the perimeter and shoot the ball. From what I see, that is brilliance on his part. he knows that if he plays the post, Phil Jakson will play O'Neal on him, and leave Vlade to Horry and Walker. Both are adept at range shots and can defend fairly decently against it. But having Shaq in the middle would kill ALL theking's offense.

By having Weber come to the outside, and Vlade do the same, he is pulling Shaq out of the lane and making him guard on his toes- something a big man cannot do. This has caused Shaq to foul a lot and Phil to be a little more cautios on how to play Shaq.

If Adelman decides to play Weber in the middle, sure, he can be a power forward- but for howlong? He will be pounding on Shaq- and sure he will raise his points by two or three agame- but without Weber as the extra swing man in the perimeter, Bibby cant get those open looks, Christie cant slash to the absket, and Vlade will be forced to play a more conventional center role- and that will destroy the Kings.

Now, what I want to see is the Refs play a fair game. Game five was a travesty. Every king that went to the hole got the call- save a few minutes in the third and forth when the refs decided to put their whistles away and enjoy the game. On the flip side, every time Kobe drove, he was hacked and bumped and pushed- and no call... not that it would have been any good- he cant even make a Free throw these days...

One last thing- Vlade is a flop- in both senses of the word. My gosh man- play some defense adn stop falling to the ground everytime someone bumps into you. Fisher ran into him in game five and the fool flew abotu 15 feet. If that is how you are going to wina game- then I feel sorry for you. It is sad when a game is decided over who can flop and act the best (not that I am singling out Vlade, Fisher does this too...) get up and play the game for *****sakes...and stop crying about it...

Yeah, the Kings have had that annoying tendency to whine and look outraged when they don't get the calls they want. On the other hand, Bibby was getting mauled in game 4, and Shaq got away with a lot of pushes inside (in addition to the ones he got called for).

Either way, I'm rooting for the Kings tonight :D.

First of all it's just 2.5 hours from game time Kings vs Lakers.

Second... boy is it just terrible when a fan shows emotion in their posts.... simply unforgivable.

Third... I find it amusing that when Rick Fox gets in someones face and plays rough (which I like... John Stockton would be proud)..... any way when Fox plays that way he is commended for "getting into the head" of his opponents even if it does cost him a few fouls and points..... while on the other hand more people and players are carrying on and on about Vlades flop and defense and it is never mentioned that he is in their head.

For those who have just started to watch the Kings and are obviously jumping on the "they are whinners" band wagon, the bottom line is that Kings don't complain near as much as they used to and have grown up tremendously.

As far as webber being the go to guy....... if Kobe was out of the game and it came down to making a bucket do you really think that shaq would be the go to guy?

The talk has already begun how this years laker team is not the same as last years and that they aren't as good..... well who's fault is that? Laker Management....... that's who. While the GM of the Kings Geoff Petry is out making the Kings better the Laker management did what? Heck even the Mavericks seeing their holes made some late season moves in attempt to improve their team. So when the lakers lose it will be the whole organizations fault, management and ownership for not making the moves and players for not executing....

BTW Go KINGS

Great Game 6! Especially if you're a Lakers fan! :D

Some random thoughts since I got too excited during the game to clinically observe the action: Kobe's elbow <ouch! sorry Bibby> Shaq makes free throws. Divac drives the hoop and also hits a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer. Divac fouls out instead of Webber. Miscellaneous strange officiating. Webber's all-around outstanding play and cool demeanor. Bibby drives the hoop (such a great talent). Sacramento desire. Shaq + Kobe = Awesome! Shaq + Kobe + rest of Lakers = just a little more than Awesome. Hard dunks. Fast breaks. Clutch free throws. What fun! :D

If Shaq and Kobe play as well on Sunday and get more help from the rest of the team, LA wins. If Sac starts hitting more of their outside shots, LA is in trouble. The fact that they're playing in Sacramento doesn't help either. I'm really looking forward to Game 7.

BTW, Congrats to the Nets!

As soon as I saw that bald headed little wrinkley old man referee I knew that Sacramento was going to be screwed...

Dick Baveta is Satan.

Once again listening to Bill Walton has become most painful thing to experience since..... since..... since.... the last time I had to listen to Bill Walton. Walton made the coment that the Lakers "were not playing as a team like other Phil Jackson teams have done" .... Let me ask you What "team" is he referring to? Is it last years, or the year before that when Shaq and Kobe were the Best players in the league .... no it must of been when he coached the bulls..... wait they had Micheal and Scotty... Phil Jackson is a dope smoking "opportunist".

I am once again appaulled at the Kings lack of Free throw shooting talent.......Pathetic.

My hat is off to shaq and Kobe who I beleave went somthing like a combined 18 for 20 from the line.

One thing I started noticing more when I watch with the sound off (something I always do when NBC broadcasts the game) is that Shaq gets away with more offensive fouls than anyone in the league. Flopping is your best chance to guard him sometimes. And he hates it, so you are messing with his head, I agree totally.

Props to the Lakers, they came up big tonight and pushed it to seven games. Now they have to win in Sac. Should be a great game. I'm disappointed the Celts lost but not surprised. NJ just seemed the better team by far the last few games. Boston needs to make an adjustment or two in the off season.
