(OT) Better than George Martin

Damn GreyOne

Another Line of Books I need to read.
A good fantasy Series based on a GURPS Campaign, this is a must.
Not that i would need more Proof than your own writings.

BTW George Martin Wild Cards had made it into an GURPS Supers Supplement.
Game of Thrones had a GURPS feeling itself.

Thank you
Thank you very much

I'm afraid I can't help you with a Glen Cook site, but as for an Ice and Fire one, try this:

www.westeros.org/

It even has an archived list of fan correspondence with the man himself. A definite must see for every Martin junkie. ;)

edit: Appologies all around for this momentary hijacking. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Re: Finished book one, and about 60 pages into book two.

I liked book one. It differs from Martin in that the characters are as completely fleshed out. One the other hand, the plot is pretty interesting, and I do like how we have been pretty much started in the middle, with no clue how the magic works, or who was allied with what. Some of the justices that various evil people (well more evil than the heroes, anyway) got were fun to read about. I'm hoping the other books are as good.
Yes, the feeling of the setting is about right - you aren't expected to understand everything the first time it is mentioned. You have to piece together the elements revealed to understand what is going on, and, more importantly, what has happened in the millions of years of history of this world!

As you work your way through the books, more light is shed on old problems, even if new problems rear their heads :)

Now look at that, you made me go all the way to page 9 to bump my Malazan thread. I will not let this thread die until it reaches at least 50.

Amazon is Losing it...

Just to inform that I was going to buy thru the internet the Gardens of the Moon - Malazan book on amazon... but Amazon would take many weeks before sending it... and they dont do the cheaper Surface Intl Mail anymore... anyone here works for Amazon ? Tell them it sucks that they dont have the cheaper surface mail anymore

Barnes and Noble does have the cheaper mail so they will be sending me some books soon... but NOT Gardens of the Moon... they dont have it in stock... how come a book you guys say is so good is out of stock in both BN and Amazon ?

Because it isn't being published in the US, so far as I know. My advice is to buy it at amazon.co.uk . IIRC, I paid somewhere in the neigborhood of $27 US for the first two, and got them 5 days after they were shipped. Much better than the 5 weeks or whatever it was that Amazon.com was promising!
