[OT] Boston Trip

Wow, glad I stumbled upon this thread. My fiance (Quicklsilver, a new member on the boards) and I will be honeymooning in Boston for a week this summer. So keep the suggestions coming I'm taking notes. :D

nopantsyet: There is so much good stuff to try, and it is so close, we might go for the 'multiple-day-trips-over-a-few-weeks' approach as opposed to an over-nighter. * For me this is a short drive.

That's for sure. I live here and feel like there's always something new. Enjoy your trip(s).

I could take up most of the available space if I listed all the places in Boston I love to eat, but here are some highlights (Note: these can be fairly pricey places):

Mama Maria's (in the North End). Very good, fairly fancy, Italian. If you're going on the weekend, make sure you call ahead.

Addis Red Sea (on Tremont St.). Ethiopian. Still my favorite first date place after many years. Some interesting beers too.

Ginza (Japanese/Korean). People will debate where you can get the best sushi in Boston, but for my money it's here.

Sage. Sure, everyone has gone there a zillion times. Sure, it's not quite as fun as it used to be. But it's still packed and it's still fun.

Perdix (in Jamaica Plain). I pray that me mentioning this gem doesn't blow its cover. A tiny bistro with 8 tables and one helluva talented cook. A great place if you like seafood and good winelists.

Alloro (North End). Cash only, in an Italian neightborhood. Helping the mob launder money never tasted so good.

This place has a really good, albeit brief, run down of just about every place in Boston to eat, drink, and dance.

Brunch at Thornton's Fenway Grill.

D line to Fenway, walk across the huge windy tundralike parking lot of the old Sears building (rennovated into something else now--a movie theater?) cross deadly intersection of boyleston and six other things I forget, cut through the supermarket parking lot to Peterborough Street, turn left. At the end of the block, across the street, right on the corner.

Hope it's as good as I recall--huge plates of good and creative food, very reasonable prices. At lunch or dinner the cajun swordfish sandwich was excellent, and the fried mushrooms with piquant sauce were mmmmmyummy.

Walk it off while visting the victory gardens, just down Boyelston street a short stretch (heading back towards Boston). Can walk Boyleston all the way back to downtown in about 20 minutes, and it's an interesting walk.

I'd recomend the Duck Boat Tours. The Boston Museum of Science (and the Omni theater) is cool too.

New England Aquarium also has an Omni theater, they are currently showing a Cirque Du Solei production

What a small world! Blood Jester, the OTHER member of BADA lives in Fairfield CT? I live in New Fairfield CT (about 40 minutes North of you!) And PirateCat went to High School in Fairfield? Not Fairfield Prep by any chance? LI's lead designer (John Faugno)went there.... he also lived in Boston for a few years.. I myself have to advocate the Boston Aquarium, as a self-appointed afficionado of aquariums I find the Boston Aquarium to be far and away a better aquarium than the Norwalk Maritime center or even the Mystic Aquarium. The only othjer Aquarium that is in it's league in the Northeast is the National Aquarium in Baltimore (by the same architect I believe).
