Or maybe they've got very detailed minority types, so there's also the Bisexual Muslim Wicca...

LOL! That's my next character :)

I'm going to be buying this game and then converting it to d20 in all likelihood. Looks very good from what I've seen so far.

What are the Unisytem rules like? I don't think I've ever come across them.

Pfffft. Shadowchasers, that is all i gots to say.

I have to say that I wasn't impressed with Shadowchasers. I wanted to be, but it just seemed unbelievably bland.

Also, I don't think Shadowchasers effectively (or really at all) dealt with the "nobody wants to be Xander" syndrome.

In order to be faithful to the Buffy universe, you need to have a way to balance (mostly) the high powered characters (Buffy, Spike, Willow in later seasons) and low powered characters (Xander, Tara, etc.)

Unisystem is a solid choice, and CJ Carella seems like a heck of a designer. I'm curious to see what the "cinematic" tweaks are for the Buffy Unisystem.

Even if the system doesn't appeal to you at all, this books is gonna be gorgeous. Apparently Fox requires its licensed products to meet *extremely* high standards. AFAIK, it's gonna be full color with plenty of nice photos from the show.

Is CJ on their design team? I like his stuff but haven't seen anything he's done in over 5 years. I look forward to this product and knowing he's doing it helps a lot.

CJ is the main man on the Buffy RPG. As I recall, the Witchcraft RPG is actually called "CJ Carella's Witchcraft."

That's right. And I will add that Witchcraft is a wonderful game, and Unisystem is a fairly good simple system, that can be easily converted to d20.

I didn't realize there was any real information on Shadow Chasers except for the blurbs on EN World's d20 Modern review page and the Valterra interview. Is there something more substantial somebody could link me to?

As for Xander, he might not have that high a Wis score, but he seems like he might fit a "Dedicated Hero" stereotype (so would Giles, but in a different way). Add on a few levels of the Solider PrC and you're set.

Maybe.

The way I always saw it, Riley and Xander would just be human and have some levels in fighter, while B might get some sort of Slayer template and add levels of fighter onto that, and vamps like Spike would have a similar setup with vampire templates (and when you're around for centuries, you're gonna have a *lot* of levels in fighter, which always worked for me as far as explaining why it was so much easier for Buff to kill recently-turned vamps-played-by-extras than recurring characters like Spike and Angelus). I want to call Willow a sorcerer, but I can't decide if her spellcasting is informal or she memorizes spells from all those books she reads (or absorbs via osmosis -- like Meteor Man!).

Either way, I'd say her Int is much higher than her Cha, so I keep coming back to wizard, and I'd probably use a level or two in Rogue to account for all those wicked computer skills. Maybe not.

Shadow Chaser was in March's edition of Polyhedron (on the back of issue 91 of Dungeon).

Willow would be a Smart Hero with a few levels of the Mage Pestige class. They prepare spells like Wizards in D&D.
