[ot] building tables in HTML with varying number of columns

I will attempt to make this kinda on-topic by pointing out this lovely information could be passed on to the people running gaming websites.

I need one of three things.

1) The answer to the following question:

I have a table that typically has two columns. But every now and then I want to put in a single column that takes up the entire table width. But for some reason my tables keep looking like this:

XX
X
XX
XX

This kinda sucks and since I'm dynamically generating the tables with java, a total pain to debug. Making three tables is the option I'd normally choose, but my boss doesn't want me to do that (VERY LONG STORY).

2) A link to a more appropriate web message board with high traffic and people who enjoy hearing stupid questions.

3) A link to a more appropriate web message board with high traffic and people who enjoy hearing stupid questions and are also sex-crazed supermodels who really dig guys that have the orc stat block memorized.


Obviously, I'd prefer #3. But #1 or #2 would make me a very happy man also.
