[OT~] File size on a PDF?

Joe - you're with the Kargat? You oughta put something in your .sig - there's nothing wrong with blatant self-advertising, after all! :D

Ah but I do self-advertise, which is why only my personal Web site is in my sig, which is exactly what my Kargatane alter-ego Jaerdaph Baeloss would expect me to do ;)

Seriously though, I'm not working on any of the 3e Ravenloft books from Sword & Sorcery, but I still like to help out my former Kargatane colleagues with the Web site I helped found six years ago.

I've found that if you resize the files before putting them in the word file, it works best. Changing picture sizes IN WORD causes it to bug out and the file size just multiplies...

That definitely makes sense. I don't see the image files before they end up in the Word docs I format, but I'm pretty sure they are resized from within Word.

Thanks :)

Generally, image programs are best for images, word processors are best for text, etc.

I use Photoshop when I need to resize images, as all versions after 5.5 have some very handy tools for that job. Photoshop is also rather hellishly expensive, but if you were to have access to the program, or any other program doing the same thing, it is very easy to reduce the size of an image considerably.

It is, of course hard to say how considerable the difference would be, since I don't know what kind of images we're talking about here, but if it is a bmp file, you should be able to reduce it to 10% of the size without any problem.

If you'd like, you could send me some of the images and I could take a look. My address is haahaa@hfstud.uio.no. I have good internet access and a tolerant ISP so large attachments is not really a problem. :)
