[OT] Ghost ship mystery

Well, it's probably not a certain R'lyeh-dormant malign entity, because everyone knows he (she? it?) sleeps off the east coast of New Zealand, and Australia's about as far from here as London is from Moscow. At the nearest point. If Lovecraft was correct, the distance the boat travelled would have to be doubled, at least.

Then again, there's always the possibility of another Dagon incident. (See, I know (some of) my Mythos.)

Most likely it's just more illegal immigrants. Australia seems strangely inviting to refugees, like a bug zapper or something, because from what I've hear they certainly don't like it when they get there. From what I can tell, though, it's not really a direct route from traditional refugee ports of call... unless it made a trip from the Marshalls to Indonesia, which is more likely to house 'persons of no fixed abode' from the rest of the (African/Eurasian) world simply because it's actually somewhere between the rest of the world and Australia.

But that's not very exciting. I blame the fish-titans. God, that hand! The window! The window!

I read a story once where a family was in their boat, in the ocean, and decided to go swimming. But, forgot to put the ladder out before jumping in. Without the ladder down, they were unable to get back into the boat. It's possible that a similar thing happened here.

I read a book once on the Bermuda Triangle, one of the intersting things that has happened is a ship can top turtle, that is turn upside down in bad weather. Ther was one incident which happened early 1900's, late 1800's where a sailing ship ship flying under the flag of the British Navy topped turtle, all of them escaped the boat capsizing and then it hit a swell and it righted itself. I think they were able to clmaber back onto the ship though.

I don't think so.. this is a commercial vehicle, and I would say it's unlikely that everyone took a joy dip together at the same time.
