[OT] Good Laser Printer for printing PDFs

The Dell printer is actually a rebranded Lexmark. The biggest benefits to it though are that it comes in at a nice price and if something does go wrong, you get Dell service and support.

My mistake. Lexmark is yet another excellent printer line I forgot to mention in my post.

I bought a used Lexmark on ebay for $50. It is slower than most (6ppm), but the toner lasts over 3000 pages with what I print. The main reason I got is was to cut costs on printing pdfs. It has surely done that! The toner costs twice what my ink does, but gives me over 10x the pages. Paid for itself after just 1 month.

A laser printer that prints on both sides of the paper is nice. That way, you're not wasting paper when printing out your PDFs, and the printed product is easier to manage and read.

Of course, most software allows you to print odd and even pages separately, so all you have to do is feed the odd pages back in if your printer does not support two-sided printing. So it is more a cost issue if you want to spend extra for this feature.
