[OT] Help Finding A Song

Andrew D. Gable

First Post
I'm working on making a soundtrack for an upcoming Cthulhu campaign. Have several songs picked out already, but one I can't seem to find is a good instrumental or vocal-light track with an Egyptian kind of sound. Any suggestions?

Pyramid, off the "Beyond the Minds Eye" CD, by Jan Hammer

Rumors of Egypt, off the "Citizen of Time" CD, by David Arkenstone

If you can find it (it came out in 1989) try getting a copy of Peter Gabriel's Passion. It's the soundtrack to the Last Temptation of Christ.

It's got a wide variety of tracks ranging in mood from ethereal to mysterious to intense. It's a mix of ambient synthesizer music and middle eastern music (old tribal recordings and guest performances by contemporary arab musicians).

It would be perfect for a Middle Eastern Cthulhu campaign.

The campaign's not really set in the Middle East (Victorian London), there's just one portion that I should get a piece of music for that concerns Egyptian artifacts.

But I completely forgot about that Gabriel stuff. I only have access (right now) to one of the songs, off of his Greatest Hits album... I'll try to track down the others.

Chance beat me to saying Akhnaten, but there are also some tracks that could be suitable on Powaqqatsi, also by Glass.

For fun you could add Ramses II Is Dead, My Love, which isn't vocal-light by any means, by the Fugs ;)

While it might not be "Egyption" per sae, I would suggest "Marko Polo" from Lorennia Mckennitt's "Book of Secrets" album. (That's the one with "Mummer's Dance" on it.)

It's a very exotic sound with no vocals.

Good choice I was going to say the same thing.

2nd choice would be Deadcandance's Chant of the Paladin or Song of Sophia
