[OT? Hero] VIPER

I just noticed that VIPER by Hero Games will live again! It is being done by the evil mastermind of that nefarious organization and ENWorld resident [IIRC - still can't get at members] Mulhorland, better known as Scott Bennie.

Is it all new, revamped, or extending and updating what has come before?

Congrats.

The answer, to quote the Vorlon, is yes. :-)

Actually, it's new and revamped, but pays homage to the original Champions universe VIPER supplement that Cliff Christiansen and I wrote back in 1995. Much of it was already written to fit the now defunct New Millennium universe (though we'll need to *again* revise it to fit developments the New Champions universe).

There's a lot of fun stuff in it, and I look forward to finishing it and getting it into print.

I once had a great adventure featuring both VIPER and DEMON. The heroes were guests of honor at a scientific conference convened to debate and discuss a chunk of mystical rock that dropped out of an interdimensional black hole. There were over 400 scientists at the conference- during the first day of the conference, 200 of the "scientists" stood up and revealed themselves to be DEMON agents. All but one of the other 200 stood up simultaneously and revealed themselves as VIPER agents. The one scientist who was NOT a member of DEMON or VIPER turned out to be an agent of RAVEN, who stole the meteor in the ensuing chaos and drove off in the heroes' armored van. Highly entertaining (at least for me).

VIPER. fond memories :)

Heh.:) VIPER can be very fun. They reached a point of being hard to use in some older games simply because it was so easy to use them as disposable villains and once they got used often enough that way, they could no longer be taken seriously.

The VIPER Sourcebook was great for making a new, actually dangerous VIPER. And scalable for power levels which was vital.:)
