[OT] How are you doing?

Just thought I'd post a general question to the list. How are you doing? Given the current world situations, and the state of the economy.

It might feel good to rant, or just get something off your chest.


Myself? I'm doing pretty good. We're expecting our first child in May, and my wife is doing pretty good. We're excited. Work is a bit chaotic, since I work for a telecommunications company. We just merged all of our divisions together, and they are announcing some pending layoffs. Although I've been assured by my manager that I have nothing to worry about, it's creating a lot of tension at work, and everyone is really afraid. So, that could be better.

Pretty decent, except that my grandmother's sick, and probably not gonna make it past the summer.

Other than that, and not knowing all the words yet to November Rain(despite having listened to it many, many times, and trying to get the words down pat so I can practice the song with my borther-in-law's band), pretty decent.

Speaking of that song, does anybody know what the chorus is at the end? When Slash is playing that really awesome solo?

Working in academia -- where I jumped when the 2nd dot-com went down under me. Stable, steady work for smart, cool people, unaffected by such worldly concerns as "the economy". I'm not paid as well as I would be in the private sector, but then too many people I know from that sector aren't working at all.

Living in NYC, somewhat stressful with all the "code Orange" terror warnings. Hard to ignore if you watch TV, so I don't watch it any more.

No wife, no kids. Cute semi-girlfriend. Got plans for V-Day, which is all that matters -- right guys & gals?

NYC is chilly but sunny, and the snow hasn't all turned grey yet, so on balance it's a nice day.

I'm okay. I have a new computer coming that I hope clears up some of my problems here. Just had an EIP meeting for my son. He is 12 months behind on most things. Got immencely irritated with the teacher whom said he has Insencitivity Tolerance or the such. Basically dosn't like to be touched or do things that have texture. Said it was common in sexual abruse cases which ticked me off. She quickly said that his was not of that sort. grumble grumble. Daughter is enjoying her skating class and ballet. Not sure how I'll continue to afford it once the tax returns are blown. Wife is ansty. She wants to do this and that and say "sure- when are you getting a job?". Not wise on my part. Me- I'm having fun doing Story Hour and numerous PbP and e-mail games.

• Having girl problems.
• Job is going well. I have a department meeting today that I am dreading, tho.

Have a lot to be happy about but at the moment am miserable.

My life, particularly college work, is getting on top of me and I have to get really great exam results at the end of the year in order to make the offer from my first choice university (AABB grades in my A-levels to the people that will mean something to). I have 3 pieces of coursework in at the moment and one is really overdue.

Apart from being stressed and a little disillusioned I'm ok though. I should be happy about my university acceptence even though it is a high offer because it'd a place I really want to go to (Oxford) and I'm visiting my second choice Uni next week (Edinburgh). School work is dominating my life a bit at the moment but I still have a social life I'm happy with though I'm having some trouble juggling as many friends as I did last year.

Oh well , could be worse...

Oh, most things are fine with me, save I'm mostly unemployed. I'm working, but it's not full time or permanent, nor is the pay all that great, or the work particularly enjoyable. However, it's work, so hey.

Been playing D&D a lot, so that's good, though my players are kind of irritating sometimes. They're good on the whole, though.

I love both of my games on Mondays (we alternate) and I'm in a play-test on Wednesdays that's a lot of fun... I'm employed and so is my wife. We want to start trying to have a baby. All of my Valentine's gifts are ordered and paid for...

I'm nervous about the economy and the war, but that's not killing me...

Work is extremely boring right now. I too work for a telecom company and we just lost 3 managers last week. Do you work for the one with 3 letters as it's name?

Other than that, a little worried about April 15. Just got married and bought a house last year and we only made 2 payments before the years end so I am thinking that Uncle Sam is going to be wanting a pretty big chunk of money from us.

But on the good side I am bowling for charity this weekend and am going to be starting a new game of Champions in the next week or so. So for the most part things are looking good.
