Here's Dave's commentary on The Two Towers.

Generally, I like Dave Barry's work. I rather enjoy his savvy (and often sarcastic) wit and insights, but not in this piece. I don't care that he's poking fun at LotR, it's just that he's not doing a particularly good job of it herein...with the possible exception of the Dick Cheney remark.

Agree 90%

The Cheney/Gollum thing was (disturbingly) dead on, but was a "once-funny, twice stupid" type of thing, not a good running gag. Of course, politics may lead me to find it less funny than some.

I thought Gollum looked more like Gary Lineker.

Fairly weak, but it had its dead-on moments:

FRODO: Yes! And to destroy it, we must walk, slowly, in real time, all the way across New Zealand!
...
GIMLI: Well, I'm really short!

Well, seeing that I loathed the movie, I found this to be pretty dead on satire.

It very much reminds me of the better humor in project W.I.N.K.L.E., which ultimately was more dead on than any of us wanted to realize at the time.
