[OT] I've played Soul Calibur 2 on the X-BOX (unbelievably awesome!)

A friend of mine picked up the Japanese version of Soul Calibur 2 and we played it this weekend. Freaking awesome. The best fighting game of all time gets even better.

Some cool new characters, and some sweet tweaks on the old ones. You know Mitsurugi means business this time around, he's sportin' a beard!

Nightmare and Siegfried have been combined into one character, you choose who by which skin you want. Cool. Lizardman looks wicked, and the DOA girls have nothing on the new Ivy and Taki.

Spawn's a badass, fast and brutal. Even better is...a fully rendered opening cinematic ala the original Soul Edge! Boo ya!

I don't know if I can wait till August for this one to hit the States...might just have to pick up the import myself...

Yeah, one of my crazy friends got slightly less than legal versions of the game for X-Box and PS2 (I'm not proud that he bootlegs, but I'm one of the few voices opposing him out of my friends). On PS2 it loads incredibly slowly, but plays well, but on X-Bow things are fine because he saved the game to the hard drive. The game is fun indeed, especially once you get all the crazy alternate weapons and arenas.

I just wish the move lists were in English.

RangerWickett:

Did you notice any differences in the graphics between the X-Box and the PS2 version? I own a PS2 and figure the X-Box version will look better. Am I correct?

Honestly, I could notice no difference. In fact, even though the X-Box loaded a little faster, I preferred the PS2 because of the controller configuration. On the X-Box, my finger could just lightly rest on the right trigger, and I'd do a soul charge, which threw me off sometimes, and I'd have to consciously hold my finger higher than was natural. PS2 wasn't quite so sensitive, which worked better for me.

Just wait till it comes out on Gamecube.:)

I just love the title. It rolls of the tongue perfectly.

Just say it with me:

[Randy Savage Voice = on]
SOUL Calibur!
[Randy Savage Voice = off]
:D

Alas, Bonesaw McGraw is not a playable character. Nor is The Human Spider. But heck, Ivy in that red outfit still looks pretty cool.

I'm having the most fun with learning the new moves of Raphael, though I'm still best with Ivy.

Ha. Right on. Ivy and Kilik were my best characters in SC1, though I'm not too happy with Kilik's new threads.

As a Siegfried fan I have to point out that is not true. The alternate outfit is just Nightmare without the armor and doesn't play like Siegfried (yes there's a difference).

Am I the only one here who played the it in the arcade?

This is my next fighting game in line to purchase. Without a doubt, it looks lovely.

I just wish that there was a way to put link, Heihachi, and spawn into the same game. I'd pay an extra 10-15 dollars to have both characters added to whatever system I prefer. I'm weird like that though...

Nor is Spider-Man, darn them.

Heck with that, have you seen Taki in her red outfit? Ye gods...it leaves nothing, and I mean literally nothing, about her chest to the imagination (which fits her theme perfectly, since she is apparently the "bounce girl" of the game), and very little of the rest of her body either. I wonder if that'll earn the game an M rating here in America.
