[OT] Lord of the Rings DVD

I have broken down, picked up the current theatrical widescreen editon, and will make full use of the included mail-in rebate when I will purchase the Collector's Gift Set in November.

Just so you know the mail-in rebate offers $5 back for purchasing the Extended Edition OR $10 back for purchasing the Collector's Edition.

One more thing: Never settle for less, forget VHS. :p

I'll be getting both. Originally, I was just going to get the November set...but once the Aug set came I out I had to get it...my precious.

As for not being able to deal with an extra 30 mins...after the rumours of the original cut being 4.5 hrs, I was a little disapointed when it was announced we were merely getting an extra 30 mins.

I can take whatever I can get, Sulimo. Besides, can anyone honestly hold their bladder after drinking a small sized soft drink for 4.5 hours at a local theater?

Or do you resort to using the empty drink cup while not missing one second of the movie? :D

Thank goodness for Pause buttons.

Next time you level, take the "Bladder of Iron" feat... It's a favorite amongst my movie-going friends.

I was amused to see they edited out the car in the background of the cornfield scene for the DVD version.

I bought the just-released version, and I will buy the extended version in Nov., but not the version with the bookends.

Simple solution: don't get stuff to drink at the theater. I find it hideously overpriced, anyway, and fountain drinks are far inferior to those that come in aluminum cylinders.

Oh, and regarding the empty drink cup comment: yuk. :D

That is how they make their money, at concession stand.

Unfortunately, those who are running the movie multiplexes are idiots, too stupid to realize that not using intermissions will cut down their revenue for people wanting to get seconds while on bathroom break.

Intermissions would have helped so guys like me didn't have to use the empty drink cup. :p :D
