Chroma,

My condolences to you and your family. Burger was lucky to have a loving family. Pets do become member of our families, sharing in our happiness and comforting us when we are sad. May your family be well, and may you remember Burger fondly through the years.

I really know how you feel.
My mom's scotty dog - Mary Agnes, passed away Friday night. She was 12 years old, poisoned twice - by those who do not like dogs, and one of the nicest dogs I have ever known. She never growled (or barked - except when dreaming) at anyone, she let little kids pull on her ears/beard without complaining, was in two homecoming parades, and was always there to snuggle with you. She is the reason that my Aunt, two family friends, and my wife are all are proud owners of Scotties.
I don't care what some religions say, I know that pets are there in heaven waiting for you.

I grew up with a dog, we had him since I was 9. He got 15 years old and still sometimes I think he's sneaking up on me.

*hugs*

Loosing a pet is hard, we feel with you.

My condolences; I understand how you feel. My wife and I lost two 16-year-old cats within two months of each other, and we still miss them terribly.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Chroma.

It was very kind of you to have taken in a stray like that and your compassion doubtlessly gave Burger a lot more good years. Hang in there.

I'm sorry to hear your loss, Chroma.

My stray cat, Mandy, was killed the same way. After living with us as an outside stray for 10 years, and helping her with 3 litters, she was run over by a groom in a hurry to get to his wedding. I felt horrible for our cat, but almost as horrible for him, and how distraught it made him that day.
